The first event of 2026 was held on January 2 with the participation of our Vice Deans, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ersoy and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Dönmez.

At the event titled “ELT Research GALA: An Undergraduate Poster Showcase,” third-year students from the Department of English Language Teaching at our Faculty presented their research assignments, which they conducted as part of the “Research Methods in Applied Linguistics” course, in the form of poster presentations.

A total of 52 students participated in the exhibition with 16 different studies. Throughout the event, faculty members of the Department of English Language Teaching—Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlknur Yüksel, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ümit Özkanal, Dr. Nadire Arıkan, Dr. Emine Eren Gezen, and Dr. Banu Çiçek Başaran Uysal evaluated the research assignments and posters. Following the evaluation, the winning studies were selected in three categories.

In the Best Poster category, our students Fatma Zehra Kalem, Sudenaz Nair, and Melike Çetin were awarded for their study titled “Effects of Anxiety on Speaking English on University Students in Türkiye.”

In the Methodological Rigour category, our students Doğukan Özdağ, Musa Manafov, Ufuk Eren Yılmaz, and Şevval Kuru received the award for their study titled “An Investigation of Word Order Errors Across Proficiency Levels, Sentence Types, and Writing Tasks Among Turkish EFL Learners.”

In the Most Innovative Research Topic category, our students Elif Begüm Ahioğlu, Melih Bekmezci, and Burak Emin Başarır were awarded for their study titled “Turkish Dialects in ChatGPT.”
